OMG plc, (LSE: OMG) (“OMG” or the “Group”), the technology group providing image understanding products for the entertainment, defence, life science and engineering industries is pleased to announce that 2d3, the Group’s defence and aerial business, has secured a contract with the US Army Geospatial Center (“AGC”), worth $396k over seven months.
AGC conducts research and development into geospatial data collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination in support of both civilian missions and missions of U.S. ground forces. AGC works toward standardizing and simplifying the collection, storage, synchronization and sharing of data enabling the military both in the office and on the ground to access more relevant, reliable and more transferable data.
Under the terms of the contract, 2d3 has been engaged by AGC to perform applied research work geared toward generating 3D information from 2D imagery sources in urban environments.
Nick Bolton, Chief Executive Officer of OMG plc, added:
“We are delighted to be working with AGC. Visualizing 3D information is critical to maintain situational awareness, and also greatly enhances mission planning. Ultimately, our research will help the army make more informed decisions by helping them to better understand their operational environment in a 3D format.”
